Fastball Special

Here's another peek into the Splashpage Art Book that debuted at the San Diego Comic Con. I began with a quick digital sketch in Photoshop (I usually color over a scanned drawing, but I was running out of time). Initially, we were going to make this into a painted cover, but then decided it would make a better black and white interior piece. I couldn't help myself once I had the finished inks— I had to color it.

And I'll Form the Head!

I don't often get the chance to do inked work, so I really enjoyed creating this pin-up. I loved Voltron as a kid and wanted to capture the bright colors and enormous scale that I remembered.

I posted this earlier, but then took it down so it would be a surprise at the San Diego Comic Con. It's for my art dealer, Mark Hay of splashpageart.com. He put together a sketchbook featuring many of his artists for the San Diego Comic Con, which starts tomorrow. I can't make it this year, but my artwork will be at booth 5200.

Fantastic Four Cover

Here's a sneak peek at the cover to Mythos: Fantastic Four, the fifth in the Mythos series. If all goes as planned (and it had better) it will be out in October.

Splashpage Sketchbook

Just wanted to let everyone know that the cover for the Splash Page Art Sketchbook is up for auction at splashpageart.com. Since I already posted the finished painting earlier, I figured I'd show the preliminary sketch. The book will be available at the San Diego Comic Con while supplies last.

Shredded

How awesome is this?! If you don't know who Gabriele Dell'Otto is, then consider this a quick introduction to his work. Gabriele is a great painter who approached me at the New York Comic Con about a commission, but I wanted his art much more than his money, so we made a deal. Of course, I didn't hold up my end of the bargain... and still owe him a Ghost Rider sketch. Soon...

A Day at the Beach

This is the cover for a sketch book being put together by my art dealer, splashpageart.com. It includes several of the artists he represents and should be out in time for the San Diego Comic Con.

Art Out Loud

Art Out Loud was a great way to spend a beautiful Saturday indoors. The demo took up most of the afternoon and was hosted at the Society of Illustrators, amongst their wonderful collection of illustration art. Thanks to all who attended! You can get a full report (and pics) at Irene Gallo's blog.
